On Wednesday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Anurag Thakur launched a scathing attack on Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu, accusing the state government of financial mismanagement. Thakur alleged that while the government is benefiting its friends, it's mistreating government employees by failing to disburse their salaries on time.
Thakur challenged Chief Minister Sukhu's claims that the financial strain is due to opening 600 new schools, colleges, and hospitals. 'What else would a government do if they wouldn't open schools and hospitals?' Thakur questioned, adding that the financial crisis has left pensioners and employees without their dues.
Earlier in the day, CM Sukhu addressed the issue, stating that the economic crisis was managed and that the economy has improved by 20% compared to last year. He assured that state employees would receive their salaries on September 4, emphasizing financial discipline and the ongoing efforts for financial reforms.
