Biden Nears Final Proposal for Hostage Deal Amid Criticism of Netanyahu
President Joe Biden announced he is close to presenting a final proposal for a hostage release deal with Hamas in Gaza. Biden criticized Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for not doing enough to secure the agreement. The issue has intensified ahead of the upcoming U.S. presidential election.
U.S. President Joe Biden announced on Monday that he is near finalizing a proposal to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. Biden expressed dissatisfaction with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's efforts in the matter.
Biden's comments followed the discovery of six hostages' bodies, including that of American Israeli Hersh Goldberg-Polin, by Israeli forces in Gaza. The deaths have fueled criticism of Biden's Gaza ceasefire strategy and increased pressure on Netanyahu from the Israeli public.
The president and Vice President Kamala Harris, top of the Democratic ticket for the upcoming election, are experiencing growing demands for decisive action to end the conflict. The administration plans to meet with the U.S. hostage deal negotiating team to discuss ways to secure the release of remaining captives.
