Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Rajya Sabha MP Sulata Deo on Monday criticized the BJP-led government in Odisha, alleging a worsening law and order situation in the state. She pointed to recent violent incidents and accused the government of negligence and inaction.

Speaking to ANI, Deo said, "Since the BJP came to power, the law and order situation in the state has been worsening. We met the DGP today and submitted a memorandum outlining our concerns." She cited various issues, including a recent incident in Puri involving the governor's son, communal violence, and a liquor tragedy in Ganjam.

Earlier, BJD leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar also criticized the BJP for failing to curb crimes against women. "Since the BJP government was formed in Odisha, crimes against women are increasing," she said, highlighting incidents in Khordha, Bhubaneswar, and a brutal case in Balasore.

Samantsinghar alleged police inaction in the case of a 10-year-old tribal girl who was raped and killed. "The family reported it to the police, but no action was taken. The police only seized the body after four days," she said.

She added that the Chief Minister and other state officials had planned a visit to Remunda but canceled it after the incident, accusing the government of attempting a cover-up. Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also addressed the issue, calling for justice in a statement on X.
