Kamala Harris: Paving a Middle Road with Big Tent Approach
Kamala Harris

Kamala Harris's speech at the Democratic National Convention was lauded as a 'home run' by many admirers, appealing to a wide audience ranging from independents to disaffected Republicans. While her 'big tent' approach seeks to unite, it raises questions about concrete policies in areas like healthcare, immigration, and inflation.

Initially an advocate for Medicare for All, Harris now supports the Biden administration's efforts to lower insulin prices for Medicare recipients but no longer champions a universal healthcare plan. Her stance on police violence, a topic she addressed in 2019, has also seen less emphasis in recent years.

On abortion rights, however, Harris remains clear and steadfast, pledging federal protections for reproductive freedom. The Harris campaign is also focused on cost-of-living issues and immigration reform, promising government grants for first-time home buyers and a revival of Biden's bipartisan border security bill.
