In a significant political development, Assam Trinamool Congress President Ripun Bora announced his resignation on Sunday. Bora stated that the northeastern state's residents perceive the TMC as a regional party of West Bengal, which has hindered its acceptance in Assam.
In a letter addressed to All India Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, Bora revealed that despite offering multiple suggestions to improve the party's integration in Assam, none were implemented. He urged for an Assamese leader at the national level and proposed cultural initiatives, but his efforts were overlooked.
Bora expressed his disappointment over the unaddressed challenges, stressing that the perception of TMC as a regional party persists. Consequently, Bora felt compelled to resign, although he pledged to continue fighting against communal and fascist forces independently.
