On Sunday, RJD MP Manoj Jha defended his party leader Tejashwi Yadav's contentious remark labeling Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as the "Chinese replica of Yogi Adityanath." Jha clarified that the comment was aimed at highlighting the dog-whistle politics practiced by the BJP. "When we refer to something as 'Chinese maal', it implies it is not durable," he mentioned to ANI.

Jha emphasized that Yadav's remark was made in the context of polarizing politics. "In terms of the dignity of words, where do terms like 'bhains', 'mangalsutra', and 'mujra' stand?" he questioned. Previously, Tejashwi had criticized Sarma for ending a 2-hour break for Jumma prayers in the Assam assembly, accusing him of indulging in "cheap popularity" tactics to stay relevant in the news cycle.

"Assam's Chief Minister seeks cheap popularity and wants to remain in the news. UP CM Yogi Adityanath is using bulldozers, while the Assam CM stops namaz. The country belongs to everyone, peace should prevail, but these leaders spread only hatred," Tejashwi told ANI. He further attacked Sarma, calling him the "Chinese version of Yogi" and accused him of harassing Muslims to gain attention. Tejashwi also noted that the BJP targets Muslims to polarize society.
