Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated three new Vande Bharat trains via video conferencing on Saturday, underscoring the nation's strides towards the goal of a 'Viksit Bharat' (developed India) characterized by modernity and speed. The new routes include Meerut-Lucknow, Madurai-Bengaluru, and Chennai-Nagercoil.
PM Modi emphasized the significance of these developments in connecting important regional hubs. 'From the north to the south, another chapter is being added to the country's journey of development. The introduction of these Vande Bharat trains mirrors our progress toward a modern and swift transportation network,' he said. Modi noted that the Temple City of Madurai is now directly linked to the IT City of Bengaluru, accentuating benefits for pilgrims.
The Prime Minister highlighted the benefits the trains would bring to various demographics. 'On the Chennai-Nagercoil route, students, farmers, and IT professionals will greatly benefit. This expansion has led to a surge in tourists and local businesses, creating new employment opportunities,' Modi elaborated. He pointed out substantial budget allocations for railway development in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, which are crucial for regional progress. Enhanced rail infrastructure and electrification are aimed at improving the quality of life for residents.
