A delegation of BJP MLAs met President Droupadi Murmu on Friday and demanded the dismissal of the AAP government in Delhi, alleging a 'constitutional crisis' due to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's imprisonment.

No immediate response was received from the ruling AAP regarding the BJP's allegations.

Led by Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, the delegation submitted a memorandum to the president, formally seeking her urgent intervention in the 'constitutional crisis' affecting Delhi and expressing concerns over the governance of the AAP administration, Gupta stated.

The AAP government has 'lost all moral right to govern and has blatantly deceived the mandate' of the Delhi populace, per the memorandum.

Gupta highlighted the 'paralysis of governance,' citing Kejriwal's jail term of over four months on severe corruption charges as a core issue.

'Kejriwal's refusal to resign has created an unprecedented situation, leading to a complete breakdown of governance in Delhi. Critical administrative decisions are delayed, and essential services are severely impacted, directly affecting Delhi's citizens,' he declared.

The memorandum to the president accused the AAP government of 'significant constitutional violations,' notably the failure to establish the Sixth Delhi Finance Commission since April 2021—a breach of Articles 243-I and 243-Y of the Indian Constitution hindering financial planning and resource allocation, notably affecting the MCD.

The crisis also includes the AAP's repeated failure to present key reports, including CAG's, in the Delhi Assembly, obstructing transparency and raising financial propriety concerns, it added.

The memorandum listed further alleged corruption in the AAP government and obstruction of several central welfare schemes in Delhi.

'In light of these grave constitutional violations and governance failures, we, members of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, respectfully urge your excellency to take cognizance and dismiss the Delhi government,' it concluded.

The delegation included BJP MLAs Mohan Singh Bisht, Om Prakash Sharma, Ajay Mahawar, Abhay Verma, Anil Bajpai, and Jitender Mahajan, with Chhatarpur MLA Kartar Singh and ex-minister Raj Kumar Anand, who recently joined BJP from AAP.
