BJP Women Leaders Protest Silence of West Bengal Women's Commission

Senior BJP women leaders staged a symbolic protest by placing a large model lock on the gate of the West Bengal State Women's Commission. They criticized the commission's inaction following the rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Hospital. A five-member BJP delegation met with commission officials to voice their concerns.

Senior BJP women leaders and members of the party's Mahila Morcha demonstrated on Friday, placing a giant-sized model of a lock on the gate of the West Bengal State Women's Commission. They alleged the commission's failure to address the rape and murder of a woman doctor at a state-run hospital.

A five-member delegation, including BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul, former MP Locket Chatterjee, and former union minister Debasree Choudhury, entered the commission's office after extended arguments with police. Paul stated the protest aimed to highlight the commission's 'deafening silence' on this tragic incident.

Ignoring rain, hundreds of women demanded justice outside the office. Union Minister and BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar had previously vowed that party members would 'lock' the Women's Commission office in protest against its alleged bias and inaction.
