With BJP Tamil Nadu president K Annamalai away in the UK for an educational programme, the party's national leadership announced the formation of a six-member coordination committee on Friday to manage party matters.

As per the directions of BJP national president JP Nadda, the committee will be convened by senior party leader and BJP National Executive Committee member H Raja, according to a statement by national general secretary Arun Singh.

The members of the newly formed committee include state vice presidents M Chakravarthy and Prof. K Kanagasabapathi, state general secretaries M Muruganandam and Prof. Raama Sreenivasan, as well as state Treasurer S R Sekhar.

"The Coordination Committee will hold discussions with the State Core Committee and make decisions regarding party activities," Singh said. Each member will oversee activities in one or two zones, as decided by the state president and the convenor of the coordination committee.

It was confirmed that Annamalai will be attending a three-month educational training programme in the UK.
