Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, arrived in Malvan to examine the site where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue collapsed on August 26. Pawar expressed deep regret, emphasizing that Shivaji Maharaj's legacy remains a source of pride. He affirmed that the Chief Minister had convened meetings and reconstruction efforts were underway. Pawar warned that those accountable would face justice, regardless of their attempts to evade capture.

Pawar highlighted the government's dedication to rebuilding a majestic and respectful memorial. On social media platform X, he remarked on the statue's tragic fall and his visit to assess the situation firsthand. He underscored that Shivaji Maharaj epitomizes the community's self-respect and identity. Going forward, he assured that prior experience would be prioritized in contract allocations.

In connection with the incident, structural consultant Chetan Patil was apprehended in Kolhapur by local law enforcement. Patil, alongside a contractor also in custody, was handed over to Sindhudurg Police. Pawar confirmed that decisive actions were being taken following the statue's collapse, and an FIR had been filed. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde declared that the state would adopt urgent measures to restore Shivaji Maharaj's statue, with two committees set up to investigate and expedite the reconstruction.
