JMM legislator Ramdas Soren was officially sworn in as a minister in the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government on Friday. The ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan with Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administering the oath of office.
Ramdas Soren takes over from former Chief Minister Champai Soren, who resigned from his ministerial position and legislative assembly seat on Wednesday. The reshuffle comes as Champai Soren announced his intentions to join the BJP later today.
Champai Soren cited dissatisfaction with the current state government's policies as his reason for leaving the JMM. His departure comes after he briefly served as Jharkhand's chief minister, following Hemant Soren's resignation and subsequent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case.
