A rape charge has been filed against Ram Niwas Surjakhera, a rebel JJP MLA from Haryana, by a woman who alleges he exploited her with false promises of a government job.

The police in Jind have registered the case and begun an investigation into the 2021 incident as per the woman's complaint, filed on Wednesday.

Surjakhera, who resigned from the Assembly and supports the BJP, called the allegation a political conspiracy orchestrated by anti-social elements ahead of the October 1 Haryana Assembly polls. He insists he is prepared to face every 'Agnipariksha' and has demanded an impartial probe.
