A video showing a policeman washing Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad's car has gone viral on social media, raising questions about the proper use of police personnel. Critics are asking whether the act was part of the officer's duty to the ruling party legislator.
Former Congress MLA Harshwardhan Sapkal, who shared the video, labeled the incident as a clear misuse of police resources. 'This is a disgrace,' he added.
Gaikwad countered the claims, explaining that the policeman involved, who was assigned to his security detail, had offered to clean the vehicle after he vomited in it following breakfast. 'Nobody asked him to clean the car,' Gaikwad stated.
In a related development, Gaikwad had earlier come under scrutiny after claiming he hunted a tiger in 1987 and wore its tooth as a necklace. The state Forest Department seized the tooth and charged him under the Wildlife Protection Act, subjecting the item to forensic identification.
The legislator, a member of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's party, had posted a video on social media boasting about hunting the big cat.
