In a fervent appeal on Thursday, representatives of the Kuki-Zo communities termed the crisis in Manipur as 'premeditated' and 'state-sponsored,' demanding the creation of a separate Union territory with legislature.
Addressing a press conference organized by the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Delhi and NCR, they stated that mere imposition of President's rule would no longer suffice. They argued for a Union territory, citing significant loss and displacement.
Referring to a controversial audio clip allegedly of Manipur's chief minister, which the state government has dismissed as 'doctored,' the KSO claimed it proved bias against the Kuki-Zo people. They appealed to the Indian government for urgent political intervention.
