Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari has criticized the Modi government for its alleged lack of transparency and reluctance to discuss the ongoing border standoff with China in Parliament. Tewari, stressing the need for a broader discussion on India's overall relationship with Beijing, argued that critical national issues are being overlooked.
Tewari further alleged that ministries such as Defence and External Affairs, crucial to the functioning of the Indian state, are not subject to parliamentary scrutiny. He highlighted India's historical context, stating that even during the 1962 and 1971 wars, Parliament was fully briefed and engaged in extensive discussions.
The Congress leader also tied the current border issues with broader geopolitical concerns, including India's role in the Ukraine-Russia conflict. He declared that significant global conflicts, including the Russia-Ukraine war and the Hamas-Israel conflict, must be viewed within the larger framework of regional security architectures.
