Shafiqur Rahman, the leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has called for a reassessment of India's foreign policy towards Bangladesh, stressing the importance of stable, harmonious bilateral ties devoid of interference in each other's internal affairs.
Rahman emphasized the need for Bangladesh to maintain balanced relationships with global powers like the US and China, besides regional neighbors such as Pakistan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. He refuted the notion that Jamaat-e-Islami is anti-India, arguing that the party seeks to prioritize Bangladesh's interests without negative portrayals from external actors.
With recent allegations of Indian involvement in Bangladesh's internal issues and the flood situation, Rahman reiterated the importance of mutual respect and cooperation, clarifying that Jamaat aims for positive interactions with India while dismissing baseless accusations against the party.
