In a startling revelation, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma alleged on Wednesday that Jharkhand minister Champai Soren has been under five months of surveillance by his own government's police.

Sarma detailed that two sub-inspectors from the Jharkhand Police's Special Branch were apprehended by Soren's associates in a Delhi hotel, where they were found spying on the former chief minister.

The Assam CM further claimed that orders for tracking Soren came from a high-ranking official. The sub-inspectors have been handed over to Delhi Police for further investigation. Concerns have also arisen over potential phone tapping and a possible 'honey trap' setup involving a woman who had frequent meetings with the officers.
