The BJP on Tuesday raised serious corruption allegations against the Congress, claiming a scandal in the allocation of land to a trust associated with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's family in Karnataka. In a press conference at the BJP headquarters, national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia demanded a CBI probe into the matter.

Gaurav Bhatia called for the immediate resignation of Mallikarjun Kharge as Congress president and his son Priyank Kharge as a Karnataka state minister. Bhatia alleged that rules were flouted to allocate the land to the Kharge family-run trust and pointed to a pattern of corruption within the Congress party.

Another BJP leader, Lahar Singh Siroya, questioned the eligibility of the Kharge family to receive industrial land, suggesting misuse of power and nepotism. Karnataka Minister M B Patil, however, refuted the allegations, stating that the land allocation followed prescribed norms and no rules were violated.
