Ahead of the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, efforts to assist displaced Kashmiri voters are intensifying. The relief and rehabilitation department established a helpdesk to facilitate smooth polling, supporting voting at special stations and via postal ballots, according to officials.

''A helpdesk has been set up in our office and various zones,'' said Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Dr Arvind Karwani. Several employees have been deployed to ensure seamless facilitation of migrant polling.

Updated electoral rolls detailing migrant electors will soon be published, and corrections or objections will be accepted within seven days, Karwani added.

With 90 assembly constituencies scheduled for polls starting September 18, the EC has established 24 special polling stations and a postal ballot scheme to ensure voter participation.
