National Conference and Congress Forge Alliance for J&K Elections

National Conference leaders Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah revealed on Tuesday that their seat-sharing deal with the Congress is aimed at creating a united front to challenge the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir. The coalition, set for the assembly elections, will see NC contesting 51 seats and Congress 32 seats.
Farooq Abdullah, speaking in Pulwama district, emphasized the need for compromise in a coalition, expressing optimism about their alliance's success in addressing public grievances.
Omar Abdullah, at an event in Anantnag district, acknowledged that some aspiring NC candidates were left out due to the seat-sharing arrangement but assured future opportunities for them. The assembly polls, the first since the 2019 abrogation of Article 370, will occur in three phases, starting September 18.
