The opposition in the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha staged a walkout on the inaugural day of the monsoon session after their demand to adjourn proceedings for a debate on the state's law and order situation was rejected.

Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur stated that the opposition had invoked Rule 67 for an adjournment to discuss the worsening law and order conditions. Denied their request, they chose to walk out in protest.

Highlighting specific incidents, Thakur noted, 'Yesterday, a youth was killed by a mob of 14-15 people in Baddi. Such incidents have been rising over the past two years.' He mentioned a shooting in Bilaspur's court complex and criticized the government for allegedly protecting the drug mafia.

The opposition sought to discuss this matter under Rule 67, but upon refusal, they walked out. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and other Congress leaders had convened at the HP Vidhan Sabha in Shimla on Tuesday.
