The BJP's Nagaland unit expressed optimism that the central government would soon provide an amicable solution to the demand for a separate Frontier Nagaland Territory, comprising the eastern districts of the state.
Residents in these eastern districts abstained from voting in Lok Sabha elections and Urban Local Body polls, following a call by the Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organisation (ENPO) to press their demand. The ENPO claims the region has faced decades of neglect.
Addressing a press conference in Dimapur, state BJP president Benjamin Yepthomi stated that under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the NDA government is committed to resolving the ENPO issue, which is more than a decade old.
''The resolution to the ENPO issue is imminent. Their concerns are deep-rooted, genuine, and legitimate,'' Yepthomi said, emphasizing the need for a swift resolution.
Yepthomi also announced that the party's state leadership would conduct a membership drive across Nagaland starting September 2, aimed at connecting directly with people and ensuring transparent, genuine participation.
During the state-wide tour, the party will highlight various initiatives undertaken by the NDA government, ''Our focus is on raising awareness about these achievements and inviting people to join us in our country's journey towards Viksit Bharat,'' Yepthomi added.
