Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar claimed on Sunday that the residents of West Bengal will unseat Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and 'immerse her into River Ganga' due to dissatisfaction over her handling of the Kolkata rape and murder case. He expressed that the student society of the state has awakened and will lead this movement.
Majumdar added that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will sustain its protests until justice is achieved. He said, 'Today marks the last day of our protest here, but the movement is far from over. I'll announce further plans at 4 PM today. The BJP will remain on the streets until justice is served.'
Earlier in the day, Majumdar and other BJP workers held protests at Shyambazar. Parimal Dey, a teacher honored with the Banga Ratna award, announced his decision to return his award in protest of the state's handling of the case. Meanwhile, the CBI conducted searches related to alleged corruption involving RG Kar Medical College, with the investigation being overseen by the Calcutta High Court.
