Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday accused the Modi government of fabricating a false narrative regarding job creation in India. According to Kharge, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies have led to a severe shortage of jobs in the country.
Referencing a Bank of Baroda report showing a reduction of 2.43 lakh jobs across 375 companies in 2022-23 alone, Kharge underscored the dire situation. He pointed out that 18 lakh candidates are vying for just 21,000 constable positions in Bihar, and in Uttar Pradesh, 6.30 lakh applicants are competing for 60,000 constable posts. Additionally, he claimed the IT sector lost 1.24 lakh jobs in July this year.
Kharge accused the government of using incorrect methodologies to inflate job creation numbers, such as using different population data sets and considering unpaid labor and minimal work hours as employment. He asserted that the BJP will pay the price for these misleading claims in the forthcoming state elections.
