Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz are kicking off their Democratic campaign for the White House with a bus tour through Georgia next week. The effort aims to galvanize support in a state that is critical for the upcoming Nov. 5 election.

Officially, Harris accepted the Democratic nomination for president on Thursday in Chicago, while Walz accepted the vice-presidential nod. Their tour will mark the first time the duo campaigns together in Georgia, culminating in a rally with the vice president in the Savannah region. Tim Walz will depart the state before the rally occurs.

This Democratic tour announcement comes just two days after Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, sought to mend fences with Georgia's Republican governor, Brian Kemp, following a public spat. Kemp endorsed Trump on Thursday, and the former president expressed his gratitude via social media. Polls currently indicate a tight race between Harris and Trump, with Georgia among the pivotal states.
