An Arizona man who had threatened to kill former President Donald Trump was arrested on Thursday, according to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.
Ronald Lee Syvrud, 66, who had multiple outstanding warrants from Wisconsin, was apprehended while Trump was visiting Cochise County as part of his campaign. Authorities confirmed Syvrud's arrest and subsequent booking into the Cochise County Jail.
He faces charges in Arizona for failing to register as a sex offender and two counts of threatening behavior. The arrest follows a series of threats against political figures ahead of the Nov. 5 general election. Last July, Trump survived an assassination attempt that has led to increased scrutiny of the U.S. Secret Service.
