Vice President Kamala Harris secured the Democratic presidential nomination with a robust speech, clearly outlining her foreign policy principles and starkly contrasting them with her Republican rival, Donald Trump. With just 11 weeks to go, Harris aims to capture the White House.

Harris, 59, addressed the Democratic National Convention's final night, assuring Americans that she would be a 'realistic' and 'practical' president, drawing a clear line between democracy and tyranny. She criticized Trump's foreign policy, particularly his relations with dictators, and affirmed her commitment to backing NATO, supporting Ukraine, and standing up to Putin.

Harris emerged as the Democratic candidate within the last month when President Joe Biden's allies nudged him out of the race. In her speech, she also addressed protests from Palestinian supporters by pledging to secure Israel, end the war in Gaza, and support Palestinian self-determination, while maintaining a strong stance on defending U.S. interests against Iran and other dictators.

Harris aims to make history as the first female president of the United States on November 5. She sharply contrasted her policies with Trump's, criticizing his middle-class neglect, tax hike plans through tariffs, and the potential risks posed by his Supreme Court picks. Harris committed to a middle-class tax cut and maintaining abortion rights, voting rights, and housing supply, while planning to raise the corporate tax rate.

Chicago's United Center overflowed with energy as the arena reached its 23,500 capacity, momentarily stopping more from entering. 'We did it,' Harris celebrated with her supporters post-convention, rallying them with a resounding 'Forward, forward, forward.'
