The U.S. State Department has labeled the Venezuelan Supreme Justice Tribunal's ratification of President Nicolas Maduro's victory in the July presidential election as lacking credibility. According to a statement released on Friday, the Department emphasized that there is overwhelming evidence indicating that opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez received the most votes.
"The publicly available and independently verified precinct-level tally sheets show Venezuelan voters chose Edmundo Gonzalez as their future leader," remarked State Department spokesman Vedant Patel in the announcement.
