National Conference leader and former minister Sakina Itoo filed her nomination papers on Friday for the D H Pora assembly constituency in Jammu and Kashmir. The papers were submitted to the district election officer and deputy commissioner of Kulgam, with prominent party figures like NC vice president Omar Abdullah in attendance.

In a statement to the press, Omar Abdullah expressed optimism for the success of all party candidates. He noted, ''With the permission of party president Farooq Abdullah, our senior leader and colleague Sakina Itoo filed her nomination papers. Along with her success, we are hopeful of the success of every candidate contesting on our symbol.''

Abdullah emphasized that the party's manifesto sets a high standard that other parties may struggle to match. He hopes that voters will provide an opportunity for the NC to serve in the upcoming five-year term. He also expressed confidence that Itoo will secure a significant victory. The deadlines for filing nominations for the first phase close on August 27, with voting to take place across three phases in September and October. The results will be tallied on October 4.
