Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed 'deep concern' over the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia, asserting that India believes in solving problems through dialogue and diplomacy instead of the battlefield. His remarks came after a meeting with Polish counterpart Donald Tusk, during which they discussed strengthening bilateral ties and elevating their relationship to a Strategic Partnership.
'The ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia are a matter of deep concern for all of us. India firmly believes that no problem can be solved in the battlefield,' Modi stated.
Modi, who is set to travel to Ukraine tonight on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's invitation, emphasized the humanitarian crisis resulting from these conflicts. He reiterated India's readiness to support peace initiatives alongside its allies. Moreover, Modi commended Tusk for his role in evacuating Indian students from war-torn Ukraine in 2022. The visit marks the first trip by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years, likely adding fresh momentum to the India-Poland partnership.
