U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris brought her presidential campaign to the critical state of Pennsylvania on Sunday before moving on to Chicago, where the Democratic Party is set to nominate her to take on Donald Trump in the Nov. 5 election. Harris, accompanied by her running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and their spouses, met supporters at the airport before embarking on campaign buses labeled "Harris Walz."

Opinion polls indicate Harris is injecting fresh energy into her campaign, narrowing the gap with former President Trump both nationally and in key battleground states like Pennsylvania. Democratic Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker noted the energy at the Democratic conventions, likening it to Barack Obama's historic 2008 campaign.

Harris, who would be the first woman president if elected, is targeting Pennsylvania's Allegheny and Beaver counties to secure victories in crucial Rust Belt states that President Biden reclaimed in 2020. The campaign's momentum will continue at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where she is expected to join Biden as he passes the leadership torch to her.
