Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday criticized the INDI Alliance, accusing their appeasement politics of denying justice to Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and Jain refugees seeking citizenship in India. Shah distributed Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) certificates to refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan in Ahmedabad.

Shah stated, 'CAA is not just for giving citizenship; it is also to provide justice and rights to lakhs of people. Due to the appeasement politics of Congress and its allies, refugees did not receive justice from 1947 to 2014 and faced torture in neighboring countries for their religious identities.' He added that the partition of India was based on religion.

'During the partition, riots led to the suffering of millions of Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Congress had promised citizenship to these refugees but failed to deliver, prioritizing their vote bank instead,' he asserted. Shah recalled BJP's 2014 commitment to implement the CAA, which was enacted in 2019 despite delays caused by misleading information. He also highlighted the reduction in Hindu population in Bangladesh since its creation.

Earlier in the day, Shah inaugurated various development projects in Ahmedabad, including the Oxygen Park and Jheel. Accompanied by Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, he lauded the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's initiative to plant 30 lakh trees in 100 days and urged citizens to participate in the campaign to combat environmental challenges.
