The case, lodged in Bogura, also names Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and involves the murder of a teacher, Selim Hossain, on August 4. Hossain, a protester against the government, was allegedly killed by party activists under direct orders from Hasina and Quader.
Sheikh Hasina, 76, fled to India on August 5 after resigning in the wake of massive student protests against the quota system in government jobs. Since her departure, multiple cases including enforced disappearances and violent clashes have been filed against her and several high-ranking members of her administration.
