A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strong pitch for a 'secular civil code,' Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal accused the BJP of failing to uphold secular and civil principles over the past decade.

'A secular and civil country is the need of the hour,' Sibal posted on X, countering Modi's Independence Day address that called current laws discriminatory and communal.

At a press conference, Sibal argued that India's progress hinges on inclusivity and called out the BJP for divisive politics, criticizing controversial remarks made by Modi and other party leaders.
