Under a cloudy sky, light rain, and high humidity, dignitaries and the general public assembled at the Red Fort to hear Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 78th Independence Day address.

The India Meteorological Department reported that Delhi would experience a generally cloudy sky until 11.30 am, with a brief spell of very light rain expected. Despite moderate winds, high humidity brought discomfort, prompting attendees to use hand-held fans for cooling. With temperatures ranging from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius, many attendees, including Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Mansukh Mandaviya, and Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, opted for raincoats or head coverings.

Notwithstanding the weather challenges, the spirits stayed high as people came together to celebrate the nation's independence.
