Former deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, stated on Wednesday that the governor's post should be abolished, citing its role as a 'burden on democracy'. He argued that the institution primarily exists to obstruct non-NDA government operations.
In a conversation with PTI editors at the agency's headquarters, Sisodia, recently released on bail in the excise policy case, expressed sympathy for bureaucrats caught in the crossfire between the Lt Governor and Delhi's elected government.
Sisodia emphasized that similar governance issues are affecting states like West Bengal and Kerala, attributing them to a broader trend towards dictatorship. He called for a solution to this systemic problem, stressing that governors impede the work of elected governments.
