The U.S. has heightened its regional force posture, preparing for what could be significant attacks by Iran or its proxies in the Middle East as soon as this week, according to John Kirby, White House national security spokesperson, who addressed the media on Monday.
Kirby revealed that the U.S. had taken steps to bolster its forces in the region. The move comes in response to concerns shared with Israel about potential Iranian-backed attacks.
The security apprehensions arise after Iran and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas accused Israel of assassinating a Hamas leader in Tehran last month. The accusation has further strained the already tense situation in the Middle East.
