Mexico Investigates Arrest of Notorious Drug Lords by U.S.
Mexico is investigating Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada and Joaquin Guzman Lopez for alleged crimes committed before their arrest in the U.S. Zambada claims he was tricked into a meeting by Guzman, while Guzman calls it a voluntary surrender. Possible charges include murder, kidnapping, and illegal use of facilities.
Mexico is now investigating the involvement of two arrested drug lords, Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada and Joaquin Guzman Lopez, for crimes they allegedly committed in their home country before being brought to the U.S., according to federal authorities on Sunday.
U.S. officials apprehended Zambada, co-founder of the Sinaloa Cartel, and Guzman, son of Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman, late last month near El Paso, Texas. Zambada claims he was ambushed by Guzman, while Guzman insists his surrender was voluntary after negotiations.
The potential charges against them, including murder and kidnapping, are part of an ongoing investigation. Authorities have also looked into the crime scenes and aircraft used for their transfer.
