Thane (Maharashtra) [India], August 11 (ANI) – Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the recent attack on Uddhav Thackeray's convoy by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers in Thane was in 'retaliation' to a prior incident involving MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
CM Shinde explained that MNS workers threw coconuts and cow dung at Uddhav Thackeray's convoy in response to a previous attack where Shiv Sena members allegedly hurled betel nuts at Raj Thackeray's vehicle. Despite understanding the motive, Shinde condemned the attack and stated that such incidents are not part of Maharashtra's culture.
Besides this controversy, CM Shinde introduced significant welfare initiatives during his address. He highlighted the 'Ladli Behna Yojana', which provides women between the ages of 21-65 with financial aid of Rs 1500 per month, and the 'Vay Shree' scheme, which benefits elderly women over 65. Women have also been granted a 50% concession on state roadway bus fares. Shinde urged women to be cautious of opposition leaders, asserting that these initiatives will make the opposition anxious.
