Kamala Harris Pledges to Eliminate Federal Taxes on Tips for Service Workers
Vice President Kamala Harris has promised to eliminate federal taxes on tips for restaurant and service workers if elected. Speaking at a rally in Las Vegas, Harris echoed a similar pledge made by Donald Trump. Her campaign is focused on boosting support, especially among Latino voters, ahead of the November election.
Vice President Kamala Harris pledged Saturday that she would eliminate federal taxes on tips paid to restaurant and service employees if she is elected president. This announcement, made at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, mirrors a similar promise made by her opponent, Donald Trump, highlighting a rare political overlap.
The rally, attended by over 12,000 people, underscored the importance of Nevada's service industry to the economy. Harris' campaign, which has gained momentum after President Joe Biden's endorsement, aims to rally support among Latino voters in a state where Biden narrowly won in 2020.
The Culinary Workers Union, representing 60,000 workers in the service industry, endorsed Harris, bolstering her support in the region. Additionally, Harris is focusing on immigration and abortion issues, areas where she hopes to drive a wedge between her and Trump. Harris' campaign expects that her energetic approach will galvanize younger voters and help secure a victory in November.
