Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, announced that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research has developed 109 seed varieties adaptable to the changing climate, aimed at increasing yield even in rising temperatures. The government's goal is to ensure scientific advancements directly benefit farmers.

Speaking at a press conference, Chouhan emphasized that increasing production and reducing costs hinges on the availability of high-quality seeds. 'Under the leadership of PM Modi, efforts are focused on six key parameters. In this era of climate change, adaptable seed varieties are crucial,' he stated. Chouhan noted that Indian scientists have also developed rice varieties requiring 30% less water.

Chouhan revealed that PM Modi will release these 109 seed varieties on Sunday at 11 AM, following an interaction with farmers, underscoring the importance of science reaching the agricultural community. The varieties span 61 crops, including field and horticultural crops, aiming to boost nutrition, income, and entrepreneurial opportunities for farmers.
