NEW DELHI, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to return to her homeland when the new caretaker government schedules elections, her son disclosed.

Hasina fled to India following weeks of violent protests that prompted her resignation. Nobel Peace laureate Muhammad Yunus now leads the interim administration, which is responsible for organizing upcoming elections.

Sajeeb Wazed Joy told the Times of India that Hasina will return as soon as the elections are confirmed. Currently in a safe house in New Delhi, she may seek asylum in Britain. Joy also expressed readiness to engage in politics if necessary.
