Trump and Harris Gear Up for High-Stakes Debates

U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic rival Kamala Harris will face off in a debate on Sept. 10 on ABC, the network confirmed on Thursday. Trump has expressed interest in adding two more debates in September on Fox and NBC. He announced his proposal during a news conference at his Palm Beach, Florida residence but did not provide specific terms.

The Harris campaign has yet to comment on Trump's proposal. This development follows Harris' replacement of President Joe Biden as the Democratic candidate less than three weeks ago. Harris' rapid ascension has injected new energy into the Democratic campaign, leading to rallies in key battleground states and substantial fundraising.

Despite the shakeup, Trump's approach seemingly remains unchanged. In an extensive Q&A with reporters, he deflected questions about adjustments to his campaign. Meanwhile, Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, continue to engage with voters, including a recent meeting with auto workers in Detroit. Trump's running mate, Senator JD Vance of Ohio, also adjusted his campaign schedule due to Tropical Storm Debby.
