Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has strongly criticized the government's decision to withhold 18 months of dearness allowance (DA) arrears from central government employees. Yadav questioned the administration's boast of being a 'global economic superpower', highlighting the increasing GST collection yet essential dues remaining unpaid.
Yadav, in his social media post, pointed out the inconsistency in government spending, noting funds for expensive ships and buildings, but neglecting the workforce that sustains government operations. He emphasized the hardships faced by employees dealing with inflation and reduced financial support, calling it a 'double blow' to those with limited incomes.
Additionally, Yadav lamented the government's lack of compassion towards senior citizens, whose rising healthcare costs are not met with increased pensions. He argued that the BJP's policies undermine employee efficiency and disrespect the elderly, particularly with the cessation of senior citizen railway concessions.
