Opposition chief whip in the Odisha assembly, Pramila Mallik, has accused the BJP of spreading falsehoods about the defection of several BJD leaders to the saffron party. Mallik stated that such claims were aimed at creating divisions within the regional party.

The allegations came after BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi mentioned that Rajya Sabha MP Mamata Mohanta's recent switch to the BJP was just a 'trailer,' suggesting more BJD members would follow. Mallik, a former state minister, denounced these statements as baseless, asserting that no BJD leaders are considering joining the BJP.

Mallik highlighted that several BJD leaders who had previously left for the BJP and Congress had returned to the regional party, reaffirming their confidence in the BJD's leadership. She further criticized the BJP for manipulating narratives to destabilize her party, reiterating that the BJD remains unified and strong against such tactics.
