Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday stated that his party would oppose the Centre's move to amend the 1995 law governing Waqf boards, accusing the BJP of attempting to deprive Muslims of their rights.
This statement came following news that the government plans to bring an amendment Bill in Parliament to enhance accountability and transparency in Waqf boards and mandate the inclusion of women.
The proposed Bill would require Waqf boards to register their properties with district collectors to ensure accurate valuation. Yadav criticized Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and targeted other political figures over related issues.
