Trump Challenges Harris to Debate on Fox News Amid Heated Campaign
Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has proposed a debate with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris on Fox News. Harris's campaign claims Trump is avoiding the originally scheduled ABC debate. Trump's camp insists Harris is scared to debate, while Harris continues to plan for the initial event. Polls indicate a tight race.
In a surprising turn of events, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has proposed moving his debate with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris to Fox News instead of the previously agreed-upon ABC. The debate, set for Sept. 4, would follow the rules from Trump's initial debate with former President Joe Biden, now out of the race.
Harris has contested Trump's proposal, accusing him of backing out of the ABC debate scheduled for Sept. 10. 'It's interesting how 'any time, any place' becomes 'one specific time, one specific safe space,' Harris wrote on social media platform X, reiterating her plan to attend the original debate. Her campaign emphasized that they are ready for more debates post-Sept. 10.
Trump countered on Truth Social, claiming Harris is fearful of facing him and declaring he would only debate her on Sept. 4. Amidst litigation with ABC, Trump remains adamant that the original debate setup has been scrapped. ABC has not confirmed if Trump is officially out, and Fox News has remained silent on hosting responsibilities.
