Ukraine Bolsters Naval Strength with Second Turkish Corvette Delivery
Ukraine has received a second Turkish-built Ada-class navy corvette to enhance its naval defenses. The corvette was delivered amid Ukraine's ongoing conflict with Russia. First Lady Olena Zelenska attended the ceremony in Turkiye. Ukraine aims to use these corvettes to protect its maritime interests in the Black Sea, Azov Sea, Mediterranean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean.
Ukraine has taken a significant step in boosting its naval defenses with the delivery of a second Turkish-built Ada-class navy corvette, officials announced on Friday. However, they did not disclose how the warship would be specifically used in the ongoing conflict with Russia.
First Lady Olena Zelenska was present at the launching ceremony in Turkiye, according to a statement from the Ukrainian presidency. The first corvette is currently undergoing sea trials.
The Turkish Ada-class ships are capable of striking aircraft, other ships, and submarines. Ukraine's limited naval forces, heavily impacted by Russia's February 2022 invasion, have been bolstered by deadly uncrewed sea drones that have hindered Moscow's Black Sea operations.
