Israeli Military Confirms Death of Hamas Military Leader in Gaza Airstrike

The Israeli military confirmed Thursday that Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas' military wing, was killed in a July airstrike in Gaza. Deif's death had been uncertain for weeks following the strike on Khan Younis.

More than 90 people, including displaced civilians, were killed in the attack. The Israeli military issued a statement based on an intelligence assessment confirming Deif's elimination.

This announcement comes a day after an Israeli airstrike in Tehran killed Hamas' top political leader, Ismail Haniyeh. Israel has neither confirmed nor denied involvement in the Tehran strike.
